discovery.com
An excellent family site for having fun while learning. Check out the kid's section with the varied 'adventures', as well as the immense online educational resources featured there. For parents, the Lifestyle section, features everything from Interior Design and Gardening to Travel and Health. Enjoy!

delhidoctors.com
This site has lists of doctors available in different specialty fields in Delhi. However, of more interest to most people, is a well-documented section on First Aid Resources. There is also a small section containing basic information regarding the human body.

freschinfo.com
Many of you may have teenagers exploring study abroad options. This is great website to help them in their quest. It contains updated information on internships, scholarships etc to all types of students including international students. It has a database of over 2000 American and Canadian organisations and it provides tips, advice and even a form whereby you can search online for scholarships.

caloriecontrol.org
If you are looking for ways to lose weight or cut calories, this is just the right site to visit. You can check out the calorific value of a lot of food items, though unfortunately its almost impossible to get an accurate assessment of Indian food. Still you can check the values for the main ingredients and arrive at a rough idea of the calories in each of your favourite foods. Apart from an online calorie calculator, the site also gives nutritional and fitness advice. There is also a section for low fat recipes. Again many of these are unsuitable from the point of view of availability and Indian eating habits but they can encourage you to get creative and make your own low calorie snacks!

stonesoup.com
This is an ezine site written and illustrated for children. It is an outstanding resource for young writers and illustrators. In addition there are story writing 'projects' set by the Editor of the ezine, where different themes and plot lines are suggested. Set your would-be writers to honing their skills through these projects.

eduplace.com
This is another excellent site for the whole family. The children's section includes valuable educational fun activities such as whacky web tales and science library adventures. Parents, check out the Homework Help Section for a good set of links to online resources for homework help.

ce.eng.usf.edu/pharos/wonders
All you ever wanted to know about the seven ancient wonders of the world. Well worth a visit especially for children.

julen.net/ancient
Highly recommended for any one doing research on ( or just interested in) any topic relating to the civilizations the ancient world. Topics range from mythology and religion to lifestyle and reconstructions of the archeological excavations of all the major civilizations of the ancient world.

dk.com
This is the Dorling Kindersley site and has portions of the Eyewitness Encyclopaedia, online. The pages are a little slow to load because of all the graphics. Also accessing information from this site is a tedious business because several clicks are required to reach the portion you want. However the encyclopaedia is well worth a visit. Tip-go to the US site, it is better.

colouring.com
A good site for younger children. There is an online colouring book with large pictures and a colour pallette on the site. Helps younger children achieve good mouse coordination while they are having fun.

pbs.org/edens.com
This is the Readers Digest site and provides a wealth of information on the Living Edens of the Planet, from the Amazon rain forests to the mountainous highs of Bhutan. Like the Readers Digest itself this is a high quality site. There are also a number of activities for children. The graphics are good and load fast.

scholastic.com
The Magic Schoolbus at the Scholastic site is very good. It loads very quickly. This site is based on the TV series of the same name and contains a host of activities- including some online activities for children.

ultimatetv.com
So you're a TV junkie? Try this site for detailed episode guides and fan sites of all your favourite English programs on Star World and Zee English. Has every thing from Ally Macbeal and the Practice to Friends and Home Improvement.

webshots.com
If you are tired of the same old wallpaper and screensaver try this site. It gives you free downloads of hundreds of good quality pictures on every topic from nature to animals to sports. An excellent site.

ebindia.com
This is the site of the Encyclopaedia Britannica. Not only is the entire encyclopaedia online, there is also a list of some of the best Indian sites in different categories, as rated by the Editors.

shiksha.com
Has a good countrywide database of educational institutions relating to the different fields of studies.

indya.com
A new portal and an excellent one. The directory is fairly exhaustive and the links are good. Try it.

kidsdomain.com
A fascinating portal for children with everything from tech articles to really cute cyberpets that can be adopted by children. A combination of safe fun and knowledge. Click the surf safe section for the dos and don'ts of safe surfing. There's a place for grownups as well. Not only is the site itself great fun for the child, it also provides an extensive list of other fun child safe sites!
