Banana-Strawberry Yogurt recipe

½ ripe banana
¼ cup sliced strawberries
½ cup plain yogurt
1/8 cup powdered sugar

1. Place all the ingredients in a mixer and blend until smooth.

Banana is a rich source carbohydrates and is therefore an instant energy giver
Strawberry is a very rich source of Vitamins C and A.


Tip - You can use any fruit in this recipe. You can either use a single fruit or an assortment of fruits such as stewed peaches, strawberries, ripe banana, stewed apple, and mangoes, stewed apples.

The amount of sugar needed would depend on your baby's taste and the tartness/sweetness of the fruits used. As the fruits already have natural sugar, add sugar cautiously, especially if using stewed fruits.

Fruit Shrikhand recipe - how to make shrikhand

¼ cup fruit
3 cups yoghurt
Sugar to taste

1. Hang the yoghurt overnight.
2. Blend the fruits with sugar in a mixer.
3. Mix the pureed fruits with the yoghurt.
4. Beat well using a hand-beater.

Shrikhand is very cooling in the summer and is a rich source of calcium and protein. Babies love it.

You can make it without fruit also. Just add a pinch of green cardamom powder and a drop of yellow colouring.

You can thin the Fruit Yoghurt to the consistency preferred by your baby. Just add some water or milk to the mixture while beating it. You can also add some of the whey.

The whey from the curd can be used as stock to make a tasty and nutritional soup.
